Latvijas Pasts, in collaboration with the Latvian Ice Hockey Federation, releases a stamp dedicated to hockey in Latvia

Latvijas Pasts, in collaboration with the Latvian Ice Hockey Federation, releases a new stamp and a cover dedicated to ice hockey, one of Latvia’s most popular sports. The new philatelic releases will first be available for purchase at the post offices of the largest cities, as well as in the e-shop of Latvijas Pasts https://veikals.pasts.lv/. The first day cancellation of the stamp is scheduled to take place at Riga post office No. 10, 41/43 Elizabetes Street, Riga, from 9 AM to 6 PM on the 12th of May 2023.

The face value of the new stamp is €1.65, and it corresponds to the postage of items weighing up to 20 grams in Latvia. The print run of the stamp is 50,000 copies. The release of the stamp is accompanied by the issue of a special cover with a print run of 500 copies. The philatelic releases have been designed by the artist Ludis Danilāns.

The visual design of the stamp and the cover has a solemn vibe to it: two ice hockey players, as well as the official logo of the Latvian Ice Hockey Federation are artistically depicted on them.

Ice hockey is one of the most popular sports in Latvia, which has been played since the beginning of the 20th century. The new stamp and the cover are a tribute to all fans of the world championship during the hockey festival.
