In Latvia, 2015 is the year of Rainis and Aspazija. 2015 marks 150 years since the birth of these contemporaries and spouses. Rainis and Aspazija are authors and public figures at the European and global level. For more than a century, these personalities and their work have been a role model for Latvian literature and socio-political thought. These great masters have made an invaluable contribution to bringing the western philosophical thought closer to Latvia and its development as well as nurturing the idea of a free and independent Latvia.
