Talsi post offices will be merged from the 6th of January 2020

As a result of the assessment of the trends in using the postal services and the number of the post offices in the town of Talsi, from the 6th of January 2020 Talsi post offices No. 1 and No. 3 will be merged. Talsi residents will continue to be provided with the full range of postal services, as before. To ensure a smooth merger, on the 3rd of January Talsi post office No. 3 will be open until 2 PM, and Talsi post office No. 1 at 20 Lielā Street will start welcoming the customers of the former post office No. 3 already at 8 AM on the 6th of January. The customers in this area can also use the nearby Circle K fuel station in Jaunratnieki to collect their postal items.

With a view to promote the provision of more economically efficient postal services in Talsi and provide postal services to residents in accordance with the actual level of demand for services, a decision has been made according to which Talsi post offices No. 1 and No. 3 will be merged from the 6th of January 2020. As a result, the nearby Talsi post office No. 1 at 20 Lielā Street will take over the functions of Talsi post office No. 3. On the 3rd of January Talsi post office No. 3 will be open until 2 PM to ensure the transfer of all functions to Talsi post office No. 1.

To improve customer convenience, it is planned to extend the opening hours of Talsi post office No. 1 from the 6th of January, thus ensuring convenient receipt of postal items to working customers. Talsi post office No. 1 will be open Mondays from 8 AM to 6:30 PM, Tuesdays from 7:30 AM to 6 PM, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 AM to 6 PM and Saturdays from 9 AM to 1 PM. Customer service in Talsi post office No. 1 will be permanently provided at three workplaces equipped with cash register systems every weekday. It should be recalled that Talsi post office No. 3 is open part time until 3:30 PM and is closed on Saturdays, which is why the decision to merge the post offices has been taken to streamline the services.

In the future the customers in the area serviced by Talsi post office No. 3 will be able to receive their postal items in Talsi post office No. 1. In addition, the customers may conveniently collect their items from the Circle K fuel station Jaunratnieki, which is located not far away from the former Talsi post office No. 3. Additional information about the possibilities of collecting items from Circle K fuel stations is available here

Talsi post office No. 1 is equipped with the In-Out customer flow management system, which regulates the customer movement on the spot in the post office and enables the customers to apply for the services remotely using the mobile app. When a customer has applied for a postal service remotely and taken out his or her queuing ticket, he or she can see not only the ticket number, but also the number of the people waiting for the particular service before the customer, the progress of the queue and the expected waiting time. If necessary, the queuing ticket may be postponed for five minutes or cancelled. The mobile app informs the customer when there are three customers remaining in the queue before him or her and when the customer’s turn in the queue has come up, also showing the number of the counter where the service will be provided.

The remote application service is available on both iOS and Android devices. In order to use it, download the Latvijas Pasts mobile app and select the particular post office, which is marked with a symbol of a ticket in the section Pieteikties rindā (Join the queue). The Latvijas Pasts mobile app can be downloaded here:

The residents of Talsi may also receive the necessary postal services directly from a postman at their place of residence if it is difficult for them to get to the post office. The postman can provide the following services at the customer’s place of residence: receipt of money orders and pensions, payment of utility bills and other bills, purchase of stamps and envelopes, dispatch of postcards and letters, press subscriptions, applying for home delivery of items, etc.

The number and locations of the post offices in the town of Talsi are determined by the Decision of the Public Utilities Commission’s Council On the Universal Postal Service Obligations, which stipulates that Latvijas Pasts must provide at least one permanent post office in the town of Talsi. Latvijas Pasts fully complies with these conditions.

Precise information on the receipt of postal services in the area serviced by Talsi post office No. 3 after the 6th of January will be placed in the letter-box of each customer residing in this area starting from the 6th of December.
