Latvijas Pasts opens a special postal item delivery point for fast receipt of items in Liepāja

Following the assessment of the current trends in using the postal services and the customer preferences in Liepāja, a special delivery point will start operating in this city of Kurzeme from the 4th of December 2020 to ensure more convenient and faster receipt of postal items. The delivery point is intended for the customers who have until now received their items at Liepāja post office No. 12, 8/10 Kūrmājas prospekts. In the future the customers of Latvijas Pasts whose addresses have postal codes LV-3412 and LV-3401 will be able to receive all types of ordinary and registered items at 4 Pasta Street. The new delivery point will feature a modern design and will be equipped with a customer flow management system, creating all the necessary amenities, so that customers can collect their items quickly, which is especially important in the context of containing the spread of COVID-19.

The new Latvijas Pasts postal service outlet in Liepāja is intended for the delivery of items, thus speeding up the customer service process and providing maximum convenience to customers who need to receive their items quickly and do not require other postal services. It will also be possible to send items at the delivery point, as well as to purchase the necessary packaging – envelopes and boxes – and the stamps to pay the postage. In turn, all other postal services will continue to be available at Liepāja post office No. 12 or at any other Liepāja post office that is most convenient for the customer.

“Convenient and fast delivery of items is one of the biggest challenges for postal operators, because with the development of technology and e-commerce more and more different goods are delivered through the postal infrastructure and companies have to find more and more new solutions for optimal delivery of these numerous items to customers. There are customers who do not use other postal services at all and who only need to collect their items. Latvijas Pasts has created a diverse network for the delivery of items, which includes deliveries by postmen and couriers to a place of residence or office, a letterbox, post offices, Circle K fuel stations and parcel lockers. However, it is often necessary to look for a specific solution in certain areas, where the share of delivery of postal items significantly exceeds the provision of other services,” Kristaps Krūmiņš, Member of the Board of Latvijas Pasts, points out.

Analysis of the possibilities to improve the operations of Liepāja post office No. 12 has led to a conclusion that 55% of the services used in it account for the receipt of postal items; therefore, the establishment of a special delivery point can be considered a natural and logical solution that will promote quality provision of this service, reducing the communication dynamics in the post office.

The new item delivery point at 4 Pasta Street will be open on Mondays to Fridays from 8 AM to 6 PM and on Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM. It will feature a modern, customer-friendly design, and the delivery of items will be organised from two cash register systems, facilitating the fastest possible service.

To ensure a successful opening of the new service point, the opening hours of Liepāja post office No. 12 will be changed on the 3rd of December: it will be open from 8 AM to 1 PM. In turn, Liepāja item delivery point will work from 11 AM to 6 PM on its first day of operations, the 4th of December.

The item delivery point will also be equipped with the customer flow management system In-Out, which regulates the movement of visitors on site and provides the possibility to apply for services remotely via the Latvijas Pasta mobile application. This option helps to maximise compliance with safety standards, so that the customer can avoid spending more time than necessary at the delivery point and show up just in time for receiving the service. More information on remote application for services is available here.

All invitations for receipt of items for residents of the postal code areas LV-3412 and LV-3401 – both mobile text messages and paper invitations – will include information about the new address for receiving items from the 4th of December 2020 in a timely manner. All other postal services will continue to be available at Liepāja post office No. 12 or at any other Liepāja post office.

Residents of Liepāja may conveniently collect their items also from parcel lockers of Latvijas Pasts at the shopping centre Ezerkrasts, 175/177 Ganību Street and the shopping centre XL Sala, 62 Klaipēdas Street. More information about collecting items from parcel lockers is available here. Items can also be picked up from Circle K fuel stations at 3 Cukura Street, 171 Ganību Street and 2/8 Esperanto Street. Additional information about the possibilities of collecting items from Circle K is available here

Latvijas Pasts urges its customers to be understanding and, when going to a post office, to strictly observe all security measures: not to visit the post office if they have symptoms of the disease; not to crowd and to keep a distance of two metres; to wait for their turn in the queue outside; as well as to use personal protective equipment and to practice proper hygiene.

The planned design of Liepāja postal item delivery point can be viewed here.

In recent years Latvijas Pasts has been actively implementing modernisation works aimed at improving the postal services and the environment of the post offices.
